Plat Renderings

April 17, 2005

This is a scan of the plat of the Clear Springs subdivision, with our lot (24) indicated:

Here's a closer view of our lot (24) and the nearby surrounding lots:

Lowana and I wanted our new house to be positioned so that even though we're in a subdivision, we wouldn't be up close to any of our neighbors' windows when we looked out of ours.  We also wanted a side-entry garage, so that the front of our house would look more like "house" instead of "garage".  So, we chose a lot (among those still available when we went to contract) where we could place the house to accommodate all of that.

In early April we finally received the Site Plan workup from the builder.  It took several iterations, but the builder was finally able to achieve a placement that will meet our objectives.  However, due to the constraints associated with the subdivision (minimum distances from the street and lot perimeter), this will mean that our backyard will be a little smaller than we would have liked.  Still, we're very pleased with the large side yards (we plan to add additional landscaping for the large open areas), and if we're lucky (depending on what neighbors we end up with when they finally buy and build), we may not need to build perimeter fencing.  We've also upgraded the driveway, for additional space and parking for visitors.
